I was browsing for a birthday present in early September when I had a thought. Why not list a variety of self-care gifts that I can come back to year after year? Not only would it save me time, but I can display it on the internet for others to use too.
Every year I find myself stuck in the last minute ‘gift dilemma‘. I tell myself that I’m going to change, I’m going to start early and have everything perfectly ready by the time Christmas Eve rolls around.
Every year I fail.
However, this guide acts as the perfect companion to buying gifts. You’re guaranteed to find something for everyone, and can help small businesses make a sale in the process!
Check out the self-care father’s day gift guide.
Check out the yoga gift guide.
Self-Care Gift Guide.
1. A subscription.
This is the perfect catch-all for those who love impromptu pick-me-ups. You can either choose to subscribe to a magazine (such as Happiful Magazine) or to a subscription box.
There are many out there to choose from but why not go for a small business owner? My personal favourite (and the favourite of my followers) is:
The Self Care Subscription Box by MeriBeeMe.
MeriBee Me is a monthly subscription box for all ages. It’s a UK based company run by a mum of one who suffers from a variety of chronic illnesses, including Fibromyalgia.
“I want all my subscribers to feel like they are not alone. Each box will be themed differently and will contain lots of lovely items, with a RRP between £35-£60, per box.”
Each box is themed differently, with things ranging from Cats to back to school! Of course, you can also expect the usual holiday-themed ones as well.
Interested? Check it out here.
2. A self-help book.
I love a good book, especially a self-help or guided journaling book. There tends to be a corner in my office which is full of these sorts of things. Maybe I should have included a bookcase in this guide?
The Anxiety Journal:
A friend of mine recently reviewed this on her blog, and I managed to pick it up for £5 in Bargain Books! What a steal!
This is exactly what it says on the tin: A journal for all your anxious thoughts. It walks you through calming techniques and gives you an opportunity to write it out.
A wonderful and inexpensive gift for anyone who has issues with anxiety, overthinking or even just mild worrying.
3. Bath Bombs.
I’ve admitted it before, and I’ll admit it again: I’m not a bath person. BUT, with that being said, I do enjoy a good bath every once and a while. This is especially true in times of stress, tension, and cramps.
Since I discovered the Lush franchise many moons ago, bath bombs have been a fascination of mine. I’ll only take a bath if a bath bomb is there to accompany, otherwise, what’s the point? Even when I was testing the Turkish Bath Method I threw in a bath bomb for good measure.
Pampered Hippie is a small business that not only deals with bath bombs but a whole host of other items.
“Pampered Hippie is a vegan bath & skincare shop. Everything is homemade, handpainted, & carefully crafted. Using essential oils & herbs to provide holistic healing. The use of crystals is in many products to provide a spiritual experience & to give you extra energies you may need. Pampered Hippie means more than just pampering yourself & giving yourself a self care day. It’s about remembering to give back to yourself the same love you give to others. Every item has love poured into it & personal notes from myself. You receive a little piece of my heart with every item.”
I was fortunate to receive one of the Root Chakra bath bombs which focuses on balancing the corresponding point on the body.
I’ll be discussing more about Chakra’s in the new year, but until then check this out.
4. A Blank Journal.
It can be a dotted journal for bullet journalling, a lined journal for writing or even just a sketchbook for, well, sketching!
No matter what kind of paper you go for know that your gift allows someone a creative outlet for their emotions. Or at least an area to doodle while they’re on the phone.
5. Diffuser & Oil Kit.
Missed my post on the benefits of aromatherapy? Check it out to learn what you, or your loved one, could get out of aromatherapy.
Aromatherapy can be so therapeutic for some people. Just the use of calming or energizing smells can change your whole mood! Want to focus more? Try some lemon in your diffuser. Need to get some rest? Lavender it is!
6. Salt Lamp.
I love my Himalayan Salt Lamp. It’s not just a great addition to my home decor but there are also various benefits both our physical and mental health. In 2020 I plan to discuss this more in detail, weighing in on both the myths and the facts.
Until then, check out the many reasons why you (or your loved one) needs a salt lamp in their life:
- Purifies the air.
- Boosts energy.
- Reduces Electromagnetic Radiation.
- Improves sleep.
- They can help improve mood.
7. Anything Lavender Scented.
I don’t even think I need to defend this one! Lavender is a beautiful scent for use in candles, sprays, diffusers: You name it. It’s thought that lavender helps promote relaxation and sleep, especially in those who find it difficult to drift off.
I’ve personally used Lavender Pillow Spray, Lavender Body Butter, and Lavender Diffuser Oil.
Give someone the perfect self-care gift this year by combining the lavender essential oil with an oil diffuser! That’ll score you some major brownie points.
Want to know more about the benefits of essential oils? Check out this post.
8. Mindfulness Kit.
It’s important for everyone to look after their mental health. We’re lucky that we live in an age that is starting to promote mindfulness and taking time out for ourselves.
Mindfulness Gift Box by Embracing Mindfulness.
This Mindfulness Kit by Embracing Mindfulness is cute, compact and contains everything your loved one needs to get started with mindfulness. It contains various bestsellers from their site, along with various other items promoting self-reflection and meditation.
9. Cozy Pajamas.
They can be warm and fuzzy, or light and airy. It just depends on your preference and climate.
Bottom line; You can never go wrong with some PJs.
10. Scented Candles.
UKPurescents:

- Scent intensity.

11. Puzzles!
These are great as a distraction or just as something fun to do on a cold, rainy day. Puzzles of any kind are also known to enhance brain function and improve our ability to solve problems.
If you happen to know someone who is going through a rough time and might need a distraction, why not get them a puzzle game for the holidays?
Personally, I love jigsaw puzzles. You can even display your jigsaws when they’re completed!
12. Adult colouring book with materials;
Self-care doesn’t have to be about bubble baths etc, it can also be about quieting your mind through the use of creative tools.
I’m an ‘arty’ person but also a perfectionist. Sometimes, the easiest way for me to shut down is by opening up a colouring book, sharpening the pencils and casually being artistic without the need for A* performance.
Another thing you ought to know about me is that I also swear. A lot. Even when I don’t mean to. Hence my love for this colouring book which speaks to me on a new level.
13. Jewellery;
Self-care can be seen in the jewellery we wear. Yes, that’s right, putting on a nice set of earrings or wearing a special necklace can boost our confidence and make us feel good.
I’m the first to admit that I don’t generally get dolled up unless I’m planning to go out. As circumstance has it, that’s a rare occasion and so the majority of my jewellery is casual or holds meaning.
Jewellery can do a lot of things for many people. It can instill a sense of confidence, self-expression or personality into the clothing you’re wearing. For others, it can hold meaning, such as remembrance of a loved one or a symbol of their beliefs.
Lucky for you I have two wonderful companies for you to check out:
Sand and Seagulls is a small business owned and run by Zoe and Ash Payne. They have a vast collection of cute, beach-inspired pieces ranging from necklaces to cufflinks.
I was sent this beautiful bracelet with one of my favourite affirmations to remind me to keep going every day! It came neatly packaged with a lovely postcard as a keepsake.
Wrap All About It is another small business owned and run by Kendra McFayden. She’s been making jewellry since she was 14 years old and even took a class while in high school to hone her skills.
“The whole idea behind the company started back in 2005 when Marylee Sievers (Mom), Micheala Sievers (Sister) and myself started brainstorming. We began creating unique hand wrapped wire pendants securing a stone, crystal, or sometimes a bead in wire adding different accents to add flair to the one of a kind piece of art. We then added Beaded Earrings and Wire Knot Rings. After that it was Bracelets and Anklets.”
The store currently sells hand wrapped sterling silver or gold-filled wire pendants, wire rings, beaded earrings, leather earrings, Bangle Bracelets, and much more.
Check out their FaceBook page.
14. Hand-picked Spotify Playlist.
I get it. Sometimes you can’t find the words (or the money) to treat everyone during the holidays. It’s okay, we’ve all been there. So why not opt for a more personal (and free) approach?
My friends and I used to love making each other mixed CDs full of meaningful, and sometimes off the wall, playlists. It’s so much simpler now, with literally every song at your fingertips. No need for Limewire and no risk of viruses.
But how does a playlist relate back to self-care? Have you ever put on one of your favourite, feel-good hits and felt your mood instantly lift? That’s exactly why I’m recommended a happy, boss-ass-b*tch playlist!
Make up your own or check out my favourite self-care playlist.
15. ‘IOU’ Coupons.
Last, but certainly not least, why not create the perfect ‘IOU‘ package? For my birthday this year, my partner created several coupons with various things such as ‘Good for 1 car wash‘ and ‘Exchange me for a massage.‘
It’s inexpensive, fun and creative. You might even come up with some self-care ideas you’d like to try for yourself.
Have you any other suggestions?
I would love to hear some of your suggestions in the comments below. Maybe I can add them as the year goes on, creating that ultimate ultimate self-care list.

Ooo I love some of these ideas, Christmas doesn’t have to be expensive and it shows with some of these it doesn’t have to. Love some of these suggestions. Great post x
Thank you 😀
The self-care gift guide is awesome. I love earrings and I wear them on a daily basis. They make me feel good and confident. Thank you for the guide Nyxie.
Makeup, jewelry and more recently, my wig, all make me feel more confident. Maybe I should add more next year? Thank you so much for reading.
Oh I actually have a salt lamp on my list. And I’d always be down for another diffuser. Thanks so much for sharing this with us!
Thank you so much for reading. I love my salt lamp and want to get more for the house, same with diffusers as mine tends to walk from room to room depending on where I am. Very inconvenient lol.
I have diffusers currently, 1 in the living room, 1 in my book room, and 1 in the bedroom. I love being able to change the mood based on what room I’m in!
These are wonderful self care gifts, I wouldn’t mind some of them for myself as well. You can never go wrong with bath bombs or natural oils.
Thank you for reading and commenting. 100% can never go wrong a bathbomb. Even if you don’t use it right away, the smell alone is beautiful.
I love these ideas! I am all about bath bombs and scented candles. I usually always have one going in the house.
Same here. I love a nice smelling home.
Oh these are some amazing ideas! Some of them would be perfect for my mom!
I have a few on here already for my grandmother or just for me (because self-care is sometimes about treating yo self).
Might have to buy some of these for myself! I love cosy pjs, aromatherapy diffusers and bath bombs. Next I have my eye on a himalayan salt lamp. I’ve heard good things!
They are amazing and I would love to write more about them in the future. Thank you so much for reading and commenting 🙂
Here is the beauty of everything you need for your own ritual of peace and serenity. I think I could buy everything!
I have some already bought from this list and the rest is on my ‘subtle’ wishlist that I send to my partner every year!
These are some great ideas! I love the thought of a self-care gifts…for one’s self.

I love the idea of the Self Care Subscription Box. It would be like Christmas all the time!
Like a little surprise in the mail every month!
Amazing gifts, this is first time to see a subscription with a purpose like this because some are always tend to focus on how many subscriber they can get and the money but this one put the subscriber first and make sure everything is perfect for them.
They are an excellent subscription box and highly recommended!
Thank you so much for reading 🙂
Self care is the one thing I do neglect on myself. I love your ideas and the subscription box.
I often neglect it to, but we must not forget ourselves this holiday season.
These are some really great ideas! They will definitely be useful this holiday season!
Thank you 🙂 Glad you are able to find the useful.
Amazing gifts, I would love to gift a cozy pajamas because its good for winter and who doesn’t want to get cozy. Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you so much for reading 🙂
You’ve obviously been to my house on the 24th of December when I am in the Oh… WHY did I leave all of this until the very last minute? Why can’t I get more organised!
I love these ideas!
Especially the journals and the bath bombs!
Fantastic ideas!
I am currently sitting here thinking ‘I am going to wind up rushed mid-December again, aren’t I?’ I just have no motivation/no idea what to get people!
One year I gave promises… “The holder of this card can call me to go out for coffee 5 times this year”
That kind of thing.
Each one was about the relationship
Love this!
Selfcare is so important especially when you become a mom. We tend to do so much for our littles and hubby we loose track of ourselves. These are all great selfcare ideas.
Thank you for popping in and reading 🙂
What a great line up of items. I must say the things on your list that interest me are the bath bomb, scented candle, self-help book and the Himalayan salt lamp. I might add making something special on the list.
I will certainly add that next year. Like a personal home made gift 🙂
You did such a great job on this blog post. I am going to share it on my Twitter and Facebook account. Have a great day.

These are great. I know who would love the adult coloring book! I am loving the IOU Coupons!

It is really a concentrate of well-being to take care of oneself, a great gift to do and do.
Even a small ‘self-care’ gift can lift my spirits. Even if they are from me to me.

I already have several of these bought for myself!
Bath bombs and diffusers are my absolute favorites for self-care moments. This list is so good with new ideas I hadn’t thought about!!
Thank you so much for stopping in and reading.
So many great suggestions for a self care gift guide. Another great idea might be an experience, like a trip to the spa or a yoga or meditation class. Or even a day at a park where you can go on a hike.
Oh yes! A yoga re-treat or massage etc. I will ensure to add them to next years!
love the essential oil idea. my favorite right now is young living’s christmas spirit!
Oh! I’ve never seen that one. I’ll have to look it up. Thank you 🙂
We often forget to take care of ourselves! Some of these products would definitely help me to feel a little bit better. 🙂
They certainly will. I have some bought for myself already.
This is such a great list, I love it. Self care is so very important and all of these would be a great starting point.
Thank you so much for reading 😀 I’ll be adding to it each year hopefully 🙂
Lovely list! 🙂
Thank you 😀
Great ideas here. I love bath bombs. They work great as small gift ideas.
A gift to myself seems a great idea! And not just any gift, a self care gift. Thank you so so much.
I love that idea. I struggle with self-care and buying myself nice things. It’s almost like I feel I don’t deserve them. But that’s just years of toxic attitudes from this around me! We are just as important to ourselves as anyone else is!
Lots of great points from taking time to read to allowing yourself the opportunity to relax. My mom loves to color but not so big on the worty dirds.
The biggest part of self care is that you have to love yourself, which sadly we often lack.
Self-love is a big thing these days. We can be so hard on ourselves and others. We need to bring compassion back not only to the ones around us, but to our own hearts.
Thank you so much for reading and commenting.
Your list of fantastic ideas gave me some ideas for Christmas this year -for me! I love the salt lamp and the mindfulness kit!

I really like this! I need to plan early this year too for presents.
I always say that but never do!
I wouldn’t mind an IOU for a car detailing. That’s a great gift idea!
My partner gave me an IOU for cleaning my car. You better believe I cashed it in ASAP!
I’m.always up for jammies. You can’t go wrong.
Exactly! I always give out a bigger size than what I am so I know they won’t be too tight and therefore triggering. Plus the bigger the more room for activities!
This is such a great self-care gift guide. Definitely something we tend to forget about.
Thank you so much for reading and commenting 😀
I love them all, all the ideas seems perfect, although i wouldn’t say i will love to have them all but self-help book is a go for me.. I have already gifted myself A Blank Journal after i lost my mobile notepad, that seems like a good idea now since all the ones i made used in the past are still with me till now..
Yes to gifting yourself! Love it!

Thank you so much for stopping in and reading.
Oh I love self care guides. Before you take care of others you have to take care of yourself too. These are awesome!

Thank you so much for stopping in and reading.

Thank you so much for stopping in and reading. Hope you were able to find a few things here that might help you or a loved one this Christmas.
Some great ideas especially the subscription boxes – I get a makeup on the cat a toy one and love the jewellery suggestion too.
I would love to get a sub box for my cat but she literally will not play with anything! So it would be wasted on her unless it was filled with long life treats lol.
Thank you so much for reading and commenting 🙂
I love the playlist and the pajama ideas. A new pair of cozy pajamas and some great songs sounds perfect.
New PJ’s is always amazing! Thank you so much for stopping in and reading 🙂
Lovely gift ideas! I would like to recommend jade or rose quartz facial rollers. They are such a great way to take care if yourself. As a side product you’ll look prettier 😍❤️
